Review of TWO WEDDINGS AND A MURDER by Alyssa Maxwell

TWO WEDDINGS AND A MURDER (A Lady & Lady's Maid Mystery #9) by Alyssa Maxwell will be released on February 25, 2025, by Kensington.

Phoebe Renshaw has finally married her sweetheart, Owen Seabright. The wedding might have been flawless, but the reception at her grandparents’ estate is interrupted by the shocking news that Chief Inspector Isaac Perkins has been found murdered in his home. When a detective from Scotland Yard arrives in Little Barlow to take over the investigation into Perkins’s murder, he puts in the bare minimum of an enquiry and then declares that Eva’s boyfriend, Constable Miles Brannock, is responsible for the murder. Determined to help Eva prove that Miles is innocent, Pheobe and Owen postpone their honeymoon for one last criminal investigation.

The Lady & Lady's Maid Mysteries were a fun, historical series. Set in England in the years after World War I, the series portrays how the times were changing for the English nobility and their servants as the country moved into a less rigid, modern era. Pheobe and her siblings are young and easily adapting to the changes while their grandparents cling to the old ways. I binge-read the other eight novels in the series before tackling TWO WEDDINGS AND A MURDER. The overall storyline built to a satisfactory ending. There are several suspects with plausibly motives in TWO WEDDINGS AND A MURDER, and it kept me guessing until the end.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
